MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) logged 6,940 individuals who violated local ordinances in a bid to toughen its enforcement by the force’s newly installed chief, Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.

Last Friday, Aberin was designated the new acting NCRPO director, transferring from Police Regional Office 7 (Central Visayas) and following the relief of Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia.

Aberin officially assumed office in a ceremony at the NCRPO Headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City on Monday, November 25.

In addressing the officers now under his command, Aberin pushed for his “Able, Active, Allied” campaign with law enforcement and stressed adherence to police operational procedures.

Aberin said, “I believe that to properly carry out our tasks, we need to get back to basics and concentrate on crime prevention and solutions. Let us always be reminded of our fundamental duty as law enforcers: to prevent crime and solve crimes.”

Aberin’s ascension to the capital’s police force came after the administrative relief of Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia, who was accused of extorting foreign nationals apprehended during the raid of an alleged scam hub in Manila.

The raid also led to the administrative relief and eventual reassignment of Anti-Cybercrime Group Director Maj. Gen. Ronnie Cariaga.

Prior to his appointment as Metro Manila’s new top cop, Aberin was PRO 7 Director, Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office Commander and Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Group Director, NCRPO said in a statement on Tuesday..
