SANTA MAGDALENA, Sorsogon — Classes in private and public schools in Sorsogon City were suspended again due to Typhoon Leon (international name: Kong-rey).
In an advisory Tuesday, Oct. 29, Mayor Ester Hamor ordered the suspension of classes from kindergarten to secondary levels after the state weather bureau raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the northeastern portion of the province.
Article continues after this advertisement“The suspension of classes was a precautionary measure to assure the safety and to anticipate the possible effects of the weather system,” Hamor said in the advisory.

The towns of Gubat and Prieto Diaz, both on the northeastern coast, have yet to issue an advisory on the cancellation of classes.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Leon was situated 645 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, moving in a northwestward direction. INQ
