MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil reassigned Maj. Gen. Ronnie Cariaga to the Area Police Command (APC) in Northern Luzon.
The transfer of Cariaga, who was relieved as Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) director amid controversies surrounding the raid on an alleged scam hub in Manila, takes effect Saturday, Nov. 23.
Article continues after this advertisementAlso under administrative relief were former National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia. Carriaga and Hernia are currently under investigation over the October 29 operation against Vertex Technologies at Century Peak Tower in Ermita.

Marbil ordered the transfer of Hernia to the APC in Southern Luzon, as well as the designation of Police Regional (PRO) Office 7 (Central Visayas) Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin as the new NCRPO chief.
Article continues after this advertisementThree ACG personnel were likewise previously relieved from their posts and put under restrictive custody for allegedly tampering with the closed-circuit television cameras in the building as operatives completed collecting evidence.
In a separate order, Marbil formalized the reassignment of PNP Academy Acting Deputy Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Ardiente to PRO 12 (Soccsksargen).
