The Biratnagar Kings defeated the Rohit Paudel-led Lumbini Lions by 2 wickets to secure their first win of the Nepal Premier League 2024 season on Wedneday at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. (Streaming | More Cricket News)
Batting first, the Lumbini Lions posted a strong total of 191/7 in 20 overs, with captain Rohit Paudel top-scoring in the first innings with 46 off 29 balls.
During the chase of 192-run target, wicketkeeper-batter Lokesh Bam played a solid knock of 71 runs off 47 balls, including 3 fours and 6 sixes. Basir Ahamad’s quickfire 40 runs off 23 balls also played a crucial role as the team reached the target in 19.5 overs, posting 193/8 to secure a hard-fought victory.
The match saw Lumbini's Durgesh Gupta picking up three wickets, while Ramon Simmonds and Saad Bin Zafar took two wickets each. Despite their excellent bowling performance, the Lions couldn't win their opening match of NPL 2024.
This was the first match of Lumbini Lions. Biratnagar Kings, led by star leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, have already lost their first two matches in the tournament and that too by heavy margins.
